Gandharva Marriage
18 May 2013 Morning Meditation
Vasantha:Swami, You said You would tell me a story?
Swami:Yes, I will tell.
... There was once a King, who had
a beautiful daughter. There was another
king inneighboringcountry,
who had a son. Yet, the two kings
hated each
other; there was enmity betweenthe two kingdoms. The princess
heard
many stories aboutthe prince from the other kingdom, and
loved him. One
day the princess went out with her friend in the palanquin. As they were
travelling along the road, they saw a beautiful
garden filled with flowers.
She and her friend gotdownandwalked around the garden. At that time, a
person was coming along the road
on horseback. Seeing the palanquin,he
dismounted and looked to see who
was there. He saw the friend and asked
who the princess was. The friend
told all. The boy then said that he was the
son of a king, a prince
from theneighboringkingdom
and wanted to meet
the princess. When the friend told theprincess
this,she became very
happy. The two met and spoke
together. The prince then placed his ring on
her finger and said, ‘This is our Gandharva
marriage.We will meet again
and unite when there is no longer
enmity between our kingdoms’.
Vasantha:What is this Swami? It is like ourstory.
Swami:Yes, it is our story. Write about this.
Vasantha:Swami, when will the hatred finish? What is this
hatred?
Swami:It is worldkarmas alone that prevent
us from uniting. Let us talk here
happily.
Vasantha:Now I understand Swami, please give some proof for
this.
