Keerthana – It is singing the Lord’s glory. One gets Liberation when one sings or hears Namasankeerthana with true bhava. Sage Narada always sings about the glory of the Lord. This is the Nagarsankeerthana advocated by Bhagavan. In the times of Andal, Keerthans were sung in the early morning hours to wake up people and call them to the feet of the Lord. These songs were styled to wake up the Lord from His sleep. Is God sleeping? It is we who are sleeping. It is to wake up our own selves. Many have attained His Lotus Feet by singing His glory always. Saint Thyagaraja and Meera Bai melted with the Lord, losing themselves in devotional singing.
