Thought for the day

The ego can never reach the place that innocence attains

From the ebook Paramatma Satcharitha pt 3

Full interest + Clear mind + Awareness + Focus + Perfect Action=no forgetfulness
This is what Swami wrote. In Vinobhaji’s treatise on the Gita, he tells that, ‘forgetfulness is a disease’. A person says that he will do something and then does not. Someone asks him, ‘Why did you not do it? The man replies. ‘Oi Yo! I forgot!’ The person hears this and is consoled. All casually accept forgetfulness. Yet, how many are made to suffer difficulties through this.
Swami has now shown a remedy how to remove the forgetfulness. Whatever task we undertake must be done with full interest. We must do it happily with full eagerness. If you do it as duty, with unwillingness and disinterest, as though it were a burden, then there will be no happiness. It is only if something is done happily, that interest comes. Through this, we feel involved in what we are doing.
An example. Every day Amar searches for Swami’s message. He patiently goes from room to room, sometimes searching for two hours. If we do not have patience, tiredness comes, ‘how long I am searching?’ If all is done patiently with full involvement for God, then His grace comes to him and a message comes. Similarly, if we do our work with a clear mind, we do not suffer with confusion. All must be done in this way. If you contemplate each time and think, ‘How to do this work?’ Then you will faultlessly accomplish all. If you contemplate before you begin any task, then your full attention will be there and the mind clear.
