Thought for the day
God is not male or female. In Truth God is genderless
From the book Principles of Becoming God
Principle: When our feelings are turned towards God, they become Truth. When they are turned towards the world, it is untruth.
According to the karmas performed in previous births, the jeeva enters a new body. Bhagavan is the Indweller, acting in all. What is the power that makes the senses, mind, body and intellect function? It is the power of the God, Atma Shakthi. This power is the cause for the body to function. Scientists say that breathing controls the blood circulation. But how is breathing controlled? It is through prana, the power of God in every soul.
What is prana? It is the life force called oxygen. We inhale oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide; trees and plants take in carbon dioxide and expel oxygen. The oxygen that enters through the nose stimulates the human heart to circulate blood around the body.
An example. A scooter’s tires are filled with air. If the tires are flat, one must go to a petrol station and fill the tires using a pump, only then will the wheels rotate properly. The wheels will not rotate if there is no air in the tire. This air allows cars and bikes to run on the road. In the same way our body is a sack filled with air. Is it enough for a bike to have only wheels? No. All parts should be assembled properly, the engine should be fitted correctly and the tank filled with petrol. It can then be driven by one who knows how to drive.
In the same way, it is not enough just to fill the tires with air. Filling the tank with petrol is akin to how prana functions in the body. The Atma is the driver, the body a mere air sack. Will our body function just by filling it with oxygen? Is it enough to fill a tire with air? All other parts should be in good condition and a driver is required. It is the same with the body and its functioning. God functions through man like a driver, motivting from within as the Atma.
Man has to suffer the consequence of his actions because he wrongly assumes that he is the doer. God alone is the driver; He causes all to act. Due to man’s ignorance he is born again and again and caught in the cycle of rebirth. The source of sustenance is not the body, senses, the mind, prana or intellect. The Upanishads state that it is the Indweller, the Atma. Knowing this is wisdom. Once this wisdom dawns, Truth can be known.
Great souls came and contemplated... In this world there are so many problems, diseases and sufferings. What is the cause for misery in worldly life? Desire and attachment. How does this attachment arise? It is due to the body and those who are connected with it. Discriminating like this, they came to the conclusion that the root cause for everything is birth; so, they began sadhana to escape from the cycle of birth and death. Through intense penance they experienced Atma jyothi, the light of the soul. The peace they obtained was permanent and changeless. Now there is Prashanthi with out any Ashanti. This alone is permanent peace. Shanthi… Shanthi…Shanthi.
