One should develop a mind that will not be touched by anybody or anything
In the
Rama Avatar, the principle of chastity showed, ‘the one man, one woman relationship’. Rama and Sita
exemplified this principle. Their mind also did not slip from dharma. They
never wavered from thinking only of each other. However, this principle was
bound to Raja Dharma and was affected by the lack of awareness of the common
people. The ignorant words of a washer man interfered with the family life of
the king and resulted in the separation of the Avatar’s family.
It was wrong to send pregnant
Sita to the forest. The Avatar knew the purity of His wife, yet He sent her
into exile. Why? This event occurred to demonstrate that ignorance should not
cross the path of Sathya and Dharma. It occurred to show the faults of the
times, and so that this knowledge could be expanded as wisdom in the future.
Sathya reveals Itself to those who keep this knowledge as a basis, research why
such mistakes happened and what should be done to avoid their repetition.
Through sadhana, more power comes, Sathya is revealed and new gates of wisdom
are opened.
The Krishna Avatar married many
women and sported with the Gopis. They demonstrated a new path of devotion that
was sacred and beyond physical attraction. Theirs was the Bhava deha
that transcended the Deha bhava. The yearning of the Gopis for Krishna
was in the nature of jeevatma for Paramatma. It was the bond of Atma and not of
the physical body. It was a bond with Sathya. They showed a new path of
devotion.
Sri Krishna taught in the
Bhagavad Gita how to turn ordinary actions into yoga. He explained in a way
that ordinary man could understand. He showed a path that was beyond the
dictates of the scriptures. He told you do not need to allot a separate time
for worship; every moment is an opportunity to worship the Lord.
Sri Krishna taught a new
meaning for marriage. He said that marriage was the union of the individual
soul and the Supreme Being. It is said that Sri Krishna had eight wives. These
eight wives are actually symbolic of the eight petals of the heart lotus. When
the eight petaled lotus in the heart is activated, it is said that Krishna has
wed His eight wives. This is the true meaning. It is also said that Sri Krishna
married 16,000 Gopis. Who are they?
Through the path of sadhana,
the sadhaka rises higher and higher in spirituality. As he journeys, the
chakras of Kundalini are awakened one by one. When the Sahasrara opens, the
flame in the center touches the petals and the jeeva merges with God. The
Sahasrara is the seventh chakra of Kundalini, situated in the crown. It is
depicted as a thousand petaled lotus. In each petal, God dwells with His
sixteen potencies or kalas. Altogether there are 16,000 potencies, which
represent the Gopis.
God exists as the Indweller. He
resides in the heart space as a tiny blue spark. With continuous sadhana, the
Lord reveals Himself more and more to the jeeva. At the end, the jeeva merges
with God; the blue flame grows in size and touches the thousand petals in
sahasrara. This is the marriage with the 16,000 Gopis. Krishna lived to demonstrate
this. Unfortunately, many people have misinterpreted this truth, especially in
this age of Kali. During these times, thoughts do not rise above the level of
the physical body. People, who watch offensive movies and read distasteful
stories, live in a world of wild imagination.
The chaste feelings of Rama
Avatar and the devotion of Krishna period are missing now. The spiritual union
of Krishna and the Gopis is seen only in relation to the physical body. People
forget that He is the Lord who has preached the Gita. Forgetting the exemplary
chastity of Rama Avatar, their minds swing like monkeys from one branch to
another. Women too are committing the same mistake. They only remember that
Krishna had many wives.
Knowing well that the life span
of Sathyavan was limited to one year, Savithri married him. After marriage, by
virtue of her chastity, Savithri debated with Yama to retrieve the life of her
husband. Where is that chastity today? Where is the chastity of Damayanthi, who
could identify the real Nala amongst the four celestial beings? Where is the
chastity of Naalayini, who stopped the sun from rising when the life of her
husband was in danger? In this land where such virtuous women lived, should
women allow their minds to be tainted and waver from the path of chastity?
Swami is the Lord of the
fourteen worlds. With misguided devotion, many link their names with His. They
talk loosely that Swami appears in their dreams and visions. They say that He
tied mangala sutra, calls them ‘wife’ and lives with them.
‘Oh women, do not commit this
sin! These are but figments of your imagination, mere flights of fancy. How are
you eligible to think like this? Remember He is God!’
Often we see Swami
materializing a golden chain and tying it around a devotee’s neck. She then
claims that Swami is her husband. Having read the stories of Sri Krishna and
only appreciated them in a superficial way, her wavering mind now thinks Swami
is her Sai Krishna. No! No! You don’t do like that. You worship Swami as your
mother, father, Guru or God.
Swami is God, God, God; He is
God Incarnate! To the one who has impure thoughts God is fire; we must become
pure like Him to go near Him. Remember this every moment.
One can worship Swami as
father, mother, guru or God. When Swami ties a chain around your neck, think,
“This is a prize from my father, in recognition of my devotion.” Such thoughts
will strengthen your devotion and the grace of the Lord will pour on you. On
the other hand, if you think of Swami as a physical husband, it only reflects
your deep-rooted feelings of lust. It shows the impurities that are in you. It
shows that for ages together, in innumerable births, you have only accumulated
garbage. The moment the chain touched you, the dirt within you surfaces. Before
saying that you are the wife of the Lord, think what qualifications you possess
to make this claim.
You must do sadhana to purify
yourself. If you consider yourself as Sita, you must pass through fire to prove
your purity. If you think that you are Radha, you must experience that Oneness
attained by Radha. Prove your worth; do not go in for amateur dramatics, your
words are like that of cinema stars. Swami is the Primal Soul. The distasteful
thoughts you have of Him are because of your own impulses and desires.
As said earlier, Swami’s words
and acts uncover the hidden tendencies and impure qualities that lie within. A
stagnant pond appears clear; but when a stone is thrown in, the water becomes
cloudy. Your feelings, in response to the actions of Swami, show the impurities
in your own mind. Therefore, watch your feelings and purify every moment. It is
only through sadhana and transformation that God can be attained.
Even though Swami told me that
I was Radha, Durga and Mahalakshmi, I said that I did not have their qualities.
I did continuous sadhana. Swami’s words only planted the seed that I should
make myself more pure. As I did sadhana for this, new gates of wisdom opened.
I am able to see deeper truth
than was possible in the earlier yugas. Swami says that the Sathya I pull from
Him is greater than during the times of Rama and Krishna Avatars. Swami shows
me the shortcomings of the previous Avatars and asks me to write about them.
The subject discussed in this
chapter is in response to my request to Swami to reveal His Total form. I am
asking Him for the power to perceive His Absolute Sathya, the Totality. The
Sathya of Rama, Krishna and Sathya Sai are indeed complete, but the power to
perceive and reveal the same has increased. Through an individual’s sadhana, it
has become possible to know Truth in its entirety. Sathya is revealing Itself
to me fully. I demand Sathya in Its Absoluteness. I desire Its full revelation.
I want to envision the cosmic form of Sathya. I am doing intense sadhana to
make myself eligible for this.
Sadhana, sadhana,
sadhana. My whole life has been a sadhana. I have been performing sadhana
wanting only Swami. I want Him in
His complete form. He should fill my life, my body, my feelings and my blood so
that I cease to exist.
