Thought for the day

Our death, its place and time have already been decided. It will happen accordingly, nobody can change it.

From the book Liberation Part II

PLAYING WITH DOLLS
(Nandalal’s Experience)

On the morning of the day I received Prema Shakthi, I felt as though all people who were moving around were illusory forms. I was experiencing a thoughtless state. Without body consciousness routine activities went on around me. This experience lasted for several hours. All the people appeared like the wind up dolls that move after turning a key. It was so comical, I felt like laughing. Another thought came to me,  why can’t we take life easy? After all, it is just an ordinary doll play.

Prema cannot be explained in words. If it can be then it is not Prema. It should be felt in every atom. Those gifted with worldly love can experience it but others may not be aware of it at all. They cannot sense its depths. However, those gifted with ‘Prema’ are seemingly and strangely unaware. Others can only experience them. They are not aware of the happenings around them. Yet Prema cannot be hidden, isn’t it? One can obtain this Prema only by God’s grace; there is no other way. If persons blessed with Prema meet each other, the ecstasy felt by them is beyond words. It cannot be expressed by words. It is beyond the perception of the ‘material eye’ view. Is this not the specialty of divinity?

For example: A worldly person will try to attract others by self-praise. One soaked in Prema always contemplates the spiritual levels reached by others and will be yearning to become like them. He is the true spiritual aspirant who does not hurt others in the least by thought, speech, or action and does not find fault with others. Without these attributes, whatever austerities and penance he undertakes is a sheer waste. Only those who are filled with Prema can attain this state. Prema does not merely mean a kind of relationship between God and a person. It means a state of mind where one showers love and affection on every living being in the world without discrimination or reason. It is pure love for all given in abundance while not expecting anything in return. Is it not attachment if you love only particular people?
